Travertine is a famous stone used in construction projects. Owing to its durability and appearance, it has a wide variety of uses. Mostly, Travertine pavers are used for paving pool areas and outdoors. Its non-slippery texture makes it perfect for those wet areas.

If you’re planning to remodel your home or build from scratch, Travertine is one of the materials experts will likely recommend in one area or the other. From the stone’s functionality to its stunning looks, you’ve got every reason to line your pool deck with Travertine stones.

Here’s what makes Travertine the choice stone for most constructors.

Highly Durable

While Travertine is costly, it’s more durable than concrete and brick. Even though the stone is porous, with a sealant, it lasts longer. Travertine’s durability is attributed to its formation. It’s formed through the precipitation of calcium carbonate found at the base of material hot springs and calcium caves. Calcium carbonate is known for its strength and durability. And it’s for this very reason that the ancient Romanian buildings were constructed using this stone. Unlike other stones, Travertine doesn’t fade or crack easily, and it maintains its colour even after using it for an extended period.

Ease of Repair

Unlike concrete slabs, Travertine pavers are easy to replace if one gets damaged. It’s as simple as removing the broken tile plus several others in the area and fix new tiles that blend with the existing ones. To make the job easier for a contractor, be sure to order extra tiles to ensure they’re available anytime there’s damage that needs to be fixed. In the case of concrete slabs, however, you’ve got to replace the entire surface to keep it looking new, which is costly and time-consuming.

Ease of Maintenance

While Travertine needs consistent care, it’s much easier to maintain than other types of stones. Warm water, gentle cleaners, and a microfiber mop or rag are enough to keep your Travertine sparkling. You only need to do the mopping once a week. Other days, you can use a dry mop to sweep the surface or vacuum the surface to get rid of dust and grit. For stubborn stains, be sure to use plenty of pressurized water from a hosepipe, and the surface will be sparkling again.

Non-Slip Properties

Naturally, Travertine has a rough surface, which makes it ideal for both wet and dry conditions. Due to the porous nature of the stone’s surface, Travertine absorbs water to keep your pool deck from getting slippery. Moreover, this absorption prevents pools of water from forming around the pool. With Travertine, you have a slip-free playing ground for your kids. Therefore, you can go about your activities without worrying that you might fall.

Cool Factor

Unlike brick and concrete, Travertine doesn’t get hot even under the blazing sun. Since the calcium carbonate is deposited during the Travertine’s formation, the stone lacks the naturally occurring metals present in other building materials. As such, it reflects the sun’s heat while absorbing the cool of the ground below it. This capability results in a cooler surface even in summer’s heat.

The benefits of Travertine pavers are numerous, and you don’t want to miss this!
