A swimming pool on its own is already an eye-catching addition to any home. Nothing screams summer more than a sparkling blue pool on a warm summer’s day, but what about the area surrounding your pool? Have you given any thought as to how you can decorate it, creating a complete oasis during the blazing summer months? There are plenty of incredible ideas, and most won’t break your bank.

Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

1. Green

Plants bring life to any area. Placing a few potted plants around your swimming pool and even planting a few will do wonders in turning your swimming pool into the oasis you have always dreamed of. Palm trees are another option, as it conjures up images of tropical islands, cocktails, and sunscreen. There are so many plants to choose from that you’ll be spoiled for choice.

 

2. Furniture

Choosing the right furniture is very important when decorating your outside area. Make sure to purchase quality pieces that are waterproof so you can go from the pool to a lounge chair without worrying about getting water on it.

Lounge chairs, a bench or even a table with gorgeous chairs are all options when you’re deciding on what type of furniture to get.

 

3. Outdoor Fire Pit

If you have space, an outdoor fire pit can be the perfect answer to summer nights spent outside with friends and family. Nothing will beat having spent the entire day in the pool only to light the fire and have everybody gathered around it sharing stories. Bonus points if someone plays the guitar.

 

4. A Pergola

We all know how dangerous the sun can be so creating a space where people can lounge in the shade will prove to look good as it is good for you. Friends and family can lounge in the shaded area after a nice swim.

There are some beautiful options and different sizes to choose from, and it just comes down to personal preference.

 

5. A Hammock

If you have the means to hang a hammock or two, then you should consider doing it. Nothing beats swinging away in a hammock while the world roars by just on the outside of your fence. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a book in, or even just to nap. It will also give your pool area an island-style look and feel, inviting everyone outside to enjoy a lazy day in the sun.

 

6. Birds

If you all things nature you can hang bird feeders in the trees surrounding your swimming pool to attract different species into your garden. It will turn your backyard into a chirping haven, while you sit in the pool and watch the birds feed and chatter to each other. A birdbath is another option. If you’ve never watched a bird bathe, then you’re in for quite a treat.

 

7. Lights

With the right lighting, you can turn any place into a wonderland. There are so many options available nowadays that you can easily get overwhelmed by all the choices.

Fairy lights are normally the go-to when decorating an outdoor area because it creates an effect that other lighting lack. Hanging it up in the trees surrounding your swimming pool will have the light bounce off the water during the evenings.

Candles placed in different locations around your pool will almost have a similar effect but would look better on a table when everyone is enjoying a meal outside.

Floating candles are another idea. You can light them and place them in the water when you are hosting a party or family get-together in your backyard. The floating candles will add a certain whimsy to your event, something that everyone will love.

With these ideas, you will be well on your way to decorating your above ground swimming pool area in a way that you and your family will love.
